Scaling and root planning treatment is often diagnosed as the initial hygiene treatment for a patient who has gone multiple years since their previous dental cleaning. This causes plaque and tartar to build-up above and below the tissue that requires more time and special instrumentation in order to return the supporting tissues to their healthy state. 

WHAT TO EXPECT

This treatment is usually completed in two appointments. A third follow-up appointment is then required at 12 weeks following treatment to evaluate the tissue response. The patient is then placed on a regular maintenance interval that will allow us to help optimize tissue health.
