Adam F. Lukens, D.D.S.

Dr. Lukens graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2008. He earned a certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 2009.

Dr. Lukens then returned to his hometown of Wichita and began practice in the social safety net setting including the community health centers of GraceMed Clinic and Health Ministries Clinic. He entered full-time private practice by purchasing the practice of Dr. John G. Hollingsworth in January 2013. In addition to his private practice, since 2013 Dr. Lukens has served as Major and Chief dental officer for the Medical Group of the 184th Wing, Kansas Air National Guard, McConnell AFB, KS.

Involvement in organized dentistry is a priority for Dr. Lukens. He is currently serving as Treasurer in the executive committee of the Kansas Dental Association. He served as President of the Wichita District Dental Society from 2017-2018. He has continued to serve as the secretary and treasurer for the Kansas chapter of the Academy of General Dentistry since 2014. Dr. Lukens is also currently serving on the alumni Board for the UMKC School of Dentistry, and is a member of the advisory committee for the Wichita State University College of Health professions.

In June of 2018 Dr. Lukens achieved the distinction of the master in the Academy of General Dentistry. In September of 2019 he was inducted as a fellow in the American College of Dentists. Dr. Lukens is actively involved with the Wichita-Sedgwick County Oral Health Coalition and as a provider for the Dental Lifeline Network, helping to treat the underserved patients in Wichita and the surrounding community. Dr. Lukens is committed to staying up to date on current treatment modalities in dentistry by regularly attending continuing education seminars.

In his free time he enjoys hitting the links, fitness, trying new recipes on his hasty-bake charcoal grill, and following local sports/current events. He is truly dedicated to providing optimum oral healthcare in an environment of mutual trust and respect for his patients. Member organizations include the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, Wichita District Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and American College of Dentists.

Research Publications:

Dr. Lukens worked with the University of Kansas School of Medicine and the Wichita State University School of Nursing in 2017 to perform an Observational Study, “Impact of Oral Health and Oral Hygiene Practices on Quality of Life Among Low-Income Seniors.” 

Our results were published in March 2018. The future direction for this work is to perform a replicate study targeting low-income seniors living independently or with family members in both metropolitan and rural areas, with an emphasis on achieving greater racial/ethnic diversity.
